Ellen Carey Maginnis is a Senior Advisor at BlueMark focused on impact measurement and management standards. Ellen has been working as a sustainability consultant for the past 15 years. She has on-the-ground experience working with businesses, investors, and governments throughout Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Ellen is currently a freelance consultant specializing in social and environmental impact measurement and management within the asset management industry.

In this capacity, she has worked with a variety of clients ranging from venture capital funds to institutional investors to establish impact frameworks and processes to measure and manage the social and environmental impacts of their investments. She has also worked on the development of a number of sustainability standards including IFC’s Operating Principles for Impact Management, UNDP’s SDG Impact Standards and the Gold Standard for the Global Goals.

Prior to starting her own business, she worked for the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) and led the development of IRIS, the impact measurement standard for the impact investment industry. Ellen also has more than ten years of experience as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers focusing on corporate sustainability and private sector development.

Ellen holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Math and Economics and a master’s degree in Economics, both with honors, from Johns Hopkins University.
